Carmentita Dress

This dress is named after my dear friend Carmen, who has stood by me in thick and thin. Carmen is fun and solid, beautiful and girlish, elegant and warm. This dress seeks to capture the flair of my querida Carmencita: it is warm, yet light to wear, solid and cosy as well as playful and romantic. The overlap front makes it warm as well as stylish, the high waist and textured skirt are flattering to the female form as well as sophisticated. The coquettish ruffled flounce edge lends a finishing touch of eye-winking fun to it. The design of the dress makes the back slightly longer than the front, which makes the dress drape across the back and hips in a more flattering manner and lends a feminine touch of asymmetry to it.

This dress is done in one piece from the top up. There is no seaming and there are no purls. The pattern is for DK yarn.

It comes in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL with the approximate measurements:
Bust: ca 80 (XS), 86(S), 96(M), 106(L), 119(XL), 129(2XL), 139(3XL) cm circumference
Hip: ca 87(XS), 94(S), 104(M), 114(L), 127(XL), 137(2XL), 147(3XL) cm circumference
Sleeve: ca 27(XS), 29(S), 33(M), 36(L), 41(XL), 45(2XL), 49(3XL) cm circumference
Length: ca 57(XS), 61(S), 68(M), 76(L), 85(XL), 92(2XL), 99(3XL) cm from armpit to lower edge (or however long you wish to make it). Note that you can make the length of the skirt any length you wish, since this is a top down design.

Every body and shape is individual, so we recommend that you take the kit size that is closest to your measurements. If you fall between two sizes, we recommend that you take the kit larger size, so as to rest assured that you'll have ample yarn. Any leftovers can be made into beautiful wrist warmers, headbands or other works of art!
